Harbor House Restaurant - San Diego

Great restaurants are, of course, nothing but mouth-brothels. There is no point in going to them if one intends to keep one's belt buckled. --Frederic Raphael

Shoot Them Cowboy!

Who shot a hole in my sombrero?
Who put a bullet through my hat?
Who shot a hole in my sombrero?
Who would do an ugly thing like that?

FatBoy

I took this shot during one of the many Love Rides that I participated in. Due to the economy last years ride was cancelled but it is being revived this year and it's going to the original location in Castaic Lake as opposed to the Pomona Fairgrounds. Needless to say I was happy to hear it is back and then I saw the date. This year it will be held on October 23rd and it just so happens that I will be in Cali the week before so two trips back to back most likely won't happen. :-(

Joe Cools's 94 FatBoy still looking pretty.

J.M. Evans House

This picture always reminds me of the little apartment house in the movie "Batteries Not Included" that got saved and remained in the middle of all the new high rise buildings.

1100 W. Washington St., Government Mall Redevelopment Area.
The J.M. Evans House is rarely referred to by its name; instead, the “Onion Dome” or, more formally, the Arizona State Archives and Public Records building, its current incarnation.

The home, famous for its onion bulb-like dome, stares across Washington Street to Library Park, and it is an unparalleled example of “old Phoenix” blending with modern buildings.

The unaltered Queen Anne cottage features the onion dome, of course, but also impeccable brickwork rising from its stone foundation. The wraparound porch with wood posts is common in Queen Annes from this era, as is the asphalt shingled, high-pitched gable roof. Little appears to have changed in the 117 years since the structure was built, especially considering it now serves an administrative function instead of housing.

Great Grandma!

Oh this is definitely one of my very favorite pictures from last year. My mom is happy because her great granddaughter is so tiny that she could carry her.
I thought I had forgotten how to hold a baby ~ but my arms remember.

My Other Ride

When man invented the bicycle he reached the peak of his attainments. Here was a machine of precision and balance for the convenience of man. And (unlike subsequent inventions for man's convenience) the more he used it, the fitter his body became. Here, for once, was a product of man's brain that was entirely beneficial to those who used it, and of no harm or irritation to others. Progress should have stopped when man invented the bicycle. ~Elizabeth West, Hovel in the Hills

Leaning

It looks like when the architect did his model he tripped, fell and knocked his model down. Everybody thought that was the correct way to build it. So they did. At least that's the way I see it. lol

Porsche 914

When I was young I always wanted to have a Porsche 914 like the one here. So when I saw this one parked on a street in Jerome I had to bring it with me even if it was only on this picture. I still think it's a heck of sexy car.

The Porsche 914 or VW-Porsche 914 is a mid-engined, targa-topped two-seat roadster designed, manufactured and marketed collaboratively by Volkswagen and Porsche from 1969 to 1976.

The Las Vegas Strip

What fun we had in our recent trip to Las Vegas. Since we didn't go up any high rise buildings like the Extratosphere or the MGM I did the next best thing and just took a picture of a picture of the strip.

Las Vegas Strip. Will go back there soon.

The Clown and the Happy Couple!

During my nieces birthday celebration the photographer set up a self portrait booth. Anybody could walk in and pose while somebody else would just press the shutter button on a hanging cord. It was the best idea ever and everyone had a blast posing for the camera and wearing the many props he had there.

Alayna, Abby, and I.
Posed happily for the camera
Alayna wanted to clown around
Abby and I thought sure why not
Clown around all that you want
And make the world a little happier.
